Don’t worry: I’ll not be too spoiled. The main pleasure of this film is how its complex narrative unfolds and you can destroy it if you want. Disappointing "Avengers: Infinity War", Thanos finally receives all six Infinity Stones he desperately needs, and then uses them to wipe out half the existence of Black Panther, the star-covered beloved heroes Lord and Spider-Man... A few weeks after "The Snap" "Avengers: Endgame" is filmed, the rest of the heroes try to pick up the pieces and find out if Thanos has a way to repel the destruction. The well-planned surface of "Avengers: Endgame" made me think critically about the first hour in the long run, about one of the situations that seemed abrupt, or about a feelingless acting decision. It was run by a committee. Every aspect of "Endgame" was suggested by other films years ago and hundreds of people created it to create such an image. The result often feels like an art. Roger Ebert once wrote that "video games can never be art", but he was amazed to see art as a video game, exceptionally programmed and determined, I really have nothing to challenge the viewer.
However, people do not wake up in the morning for "Avengers: Endgame" to challenge. It’s really about gift commitment, phenomenology, and expectations. Despite its flaws, "Endgame" does all of this and with heartfelt admiration for the fans who have turned this universe into a real cultural phenomenon. The stakes and the ending really resonate. It’s an epic cultural event, the kind that transports traditional fan criticism into an experience that can be shared with fans around the world. The biggest question I face is that they may be on top for ten years from now.
Immediately, "Endgame" is a more focused episode than "Infinity War" based on a smaller, smaller cast. (Thanks, Thanos.) This is a more patient, focused film, with elements of a dozen other films in its storyline as well. While "Infinity" often seems bloated, "Endgame" offers a few more iconic characters heroically in MCU history. The plot, run by Thanos, no longer has pawns, Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Hulk, and Thor have been liberated from the group, with the help of Hawk and Ant-Man. In a way, it reminded me of the charm of the new Avengers, and the first "Avengers" movie by a team of tough superheroes, in which a strong personality was allowed to bounce off each other. Running in the same direction. It also gives space to some of the best performances of the franchise, especially from Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr., who thinks Captain America and Iron Man have made life bigger than a generation. The most satisfying aspect of "Endgame" is that it presents the story of two of MCU's most popular protagonists, making them worthwhile rather than just drowning in a sea of guest characters from other films. This is the process by which they are abolished, which becomes an ode to the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.
What works best about the screenplay of Christopher Marcus and Stephen McPhee for "Endgame" is the feeling of looking back without trying to set the table for the first time. The film is known and loved by fans about MCU, including the character's beats, origins, and the titles of films such as "Iron Man," "Guardians of the Galaxy" and "Captain America: The First Avenger". Call it the cheapest fan service, but one of my biggest problems with these movies, especially "Infinity War", is that they are not only advertising movies yet. "Endgame" does not have this. Sure, MCU goes a long way, but this film has a uniqueness and depth that other people who have given MCU history have not.
Of course, it should also work as a movie. The mid-time MCU is as fully enjoyable as ever, but there are times when I wish I could experience human touch under a very polished, careful-p.
