Ever since Netflix announced 'Raat Akali Hai', viewers were excited to see Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Radhika Apte together again on screen. The film is now available for streaming. 'Raat Akali Hai' is a murder mystery woven around many characters. But apart from murder and murderer, the film also brings out many other aspects, such as the face of a perverted patriarchal society. Inspector complex Yadav (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) warns Radha (Radhika Apte) - 'The outside world is very bad'. But the insidious mentality inside the houses can also prove how dangerous it is.

The film starts raising questions from its first scene, where a woman and her driver are killed on the highway. The story moves forward a few years and a middle-aged Thakur is murdered on his wedding day, amidst some mysterious circumstances, Police Asafar begins his investigation. But the journey to get to the bottom of the matter is interesting. The director has also kept strong star casts to keep the story tied.

Movie Story

A high profile case comes in the hands of Uttar Pradesh Senior Inspector Complex Yadav (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). Thakur of Haveli is having his second marriage when he is suddenly killed. The whole family remains present at home, but no one is aware of the murder. Or maybe everyone is hiding something? Who murdered and why this case is very complicated. Thakur has a son, a daughter, his younger brother's widow, a son-daughter, a brother of the first wife, a maid, and a newly fledged bride Radha (Radhika) in the house. In this family filled with a patriarchal mindset, everyone is once suspected. But everyone keeps an eye on Radha. Everyone considers him accused. But the inspector has faith in him and some involvement. As the story progresses, new layers are opened one after the other and each new episode connects to the previous one. Will trusting Radha prove to be Inspector Complex Yadav's biggest mistake? Will he be able to reach the truth of the case by cutting the trap of lies?

Acting

The strongest side of the film is its cast. Nawazuddin Siddiqui has played the role of Inspector Complex Yadav. He has flawlessly portrayed the character's anger, sensation, cynicism, and seriousness. At the same time, Radhika Apte is strong in front of Nawaz. The visuals and dialogue between the two add strength to the film. Ila Arun is tremendous in the role of Nawaz's mother. His relationship with the son brings a lightness. The entire film grows into a dark tone but does not make it cumbersome because of the characters. Tigmanshu Dhulia, Shweta Tripathi, Shivani Raghuvanshi, Aditya Srivastava, Nishant Dahiya have done justice to their respective characters.

Direction

After Mukesh Chhabra, casting director Honey Trehan has also made a fresh start as a director. There have been many murder-mystery-thrillers in Bollywood, but there are some things in 'Raat Akali Hai', which makes it different from the rest of the films. The film seems very clear about its subject. So, fear, curiosity, pressure, deception, perverted mentality while watching the film… all the emotions come out. The director's control over the film appears.

Technical Aspect

The script of the film is written by Smita Singh, who wrote Sacred Games. In this aspect, the film is a bit sloppy. Slow-moving, the film's Climax seems a bit hastily disposed of. At the same time, the track of the love story in the story seems useless. Editing of Shrikar Prasad could also be a bit more agile. The length of the film bores reaching the end. It seems difficult to maintain the thrill of the film for two and a half hours. A bit more tight screenplay and tight characters .. could have made the film much better.

What good what Bad

After the film Ghoomketu, it is comforting to see Nawazuddin Siddiqui in this colorful manner. The film's dialogue, cinematography, drama are its strong sides. At the same time, the only negative aspect of the film is its length, which needed a lot of editing.

See or not See

'Night is alone' keeps you tied for two and a half hours, entertains. But does not leave long-lasting effects. If you like Bollywood suspense-drama, this film will not disappoint you. 3 nights to 'Raat Akal Hai' from Tutorialadda2050
